Day 1-Destination Cedar City, UT

At about 10 'til 10AM Nicole and I set out for Cedar City, Utah. We made our pit stop in Las Vegas hoping to eat an Italian place Nicole knew about but they only open for dinner We tried to get the Navi (loving nicknamed Mercedes) to find us a Subway but we decided to avoid The Strip and decided to take a chance a make a right after the Sahara Casino. We spotted a Marie Callender's and headed towards it when we spotted a more appetizing looking place called Cafe Heidelberg German Market & Restaurant but it was closed too. We definitely want to hit it up on the way back home. We were hungry though so we had to settle for Marie Callenders. The most exciting part of today came on the way to Cedar City from Vegas in the car. It looked like I had a little less than half of a tank of gas about 40 miles from Mesquite, NV and we had already gone about 275 miles since the last fill up. I have never had better than 24 MPG in my car and I when I first bought the car it was getting 19 MPG. When we stopped at Mesquite we were pleasantly surprised to find out that my car got 34.4 MPG, way to go Mercedes! Nicole and I were absolutely giddy, me more than Nicole I think. It felt as though we arrived at the Holiday Inn in at Cedar City in no time at all, even though Mercedes led us to a rural road and claimed we had arrived at our destination. We forgive her though because she gets 34.4 MPG, and we go to see some the farmlands with allegedly tall horses (I'm still not sure how Nicole knew this from the car). We decided we wanted to find something to eat before it got to late and hoped to see a little of the downtown area. We barely managed to skip the Godfather's Pizza and instead headed to a diner that looked packed called Sullivan's Cafe. Sullivan's was actually empty inside but there was a private part in the back. I had a prime rib for $12.99 and Nicole had a Roast Beef Dinner for $10.99, we both had salads from the salad bar and dutch oven potatoes. Our first beers of the trip accompanied dinner, I had a Bud Light and Nicole had Squatter's IPA. The interesting thing about Nicole's beer was a small sticker stating "Unlawful to Remove". If anyone knows what this means let us know. On our way back to the hotel after our surprisingly good dinner I made a wrong turn but it ended up taking us to a landmark we spotted from the freeway on the way into town. A really out of place light house, and it's for sale! We hope you enjoy our travel blog, give us feedback to help us get better at this. Happy Birthday Sergio!
